Meet Dr. Shandreka Hall | The Reset Therapist

Guiding adolescents, young adults, and parents through life's defining transitions.

Your decision to seek therapy is courageous — and it’s the first step toward living with intention, clarity, and emotional balance. At NexGen Counseling & Consulting, I help adolescents, young adults, and parents navigate life’s transitions through reflection, connection, and innovation.

As a native Texan and the oldest of four siblings, my path has been shaped by resilience, faith, and lived experience. I understand what it means to face challenges early in life and to rebuild your sense of identity through growth and healing. Those experiences are at the heart of how I connect with my clients today — with compassion, authenticity, and hope.

Over the years, I’ve learned that healing isn’t about “starting over” — it’s about finding your reset point: the space where you pause, reflect, and realign with the person you’re becoming. My work focuses on helping clients manage anxiety, depression, and stress that often surface during major life transitions.

Professional Background

I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) degree and more than a decade of professional experience providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults.

My work blends traditional, evidence-based interventions with reflective, forward-thinking approaches designed to help clients navigate life's transitions with confidence. As the Founder of NexGen Counseling & Consulting, I specialize in helping:

- College students and young adults adjust to the emotional and academic demands of independence

- Parents navigate the transition of letting go and redefining their purpose

- Individuals cultivate emotional wellness through reflection, mindfulness, and personal growth

Through a collaborative, client-centered approach, I use therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-Based Interventions to meet clients where they are — and empowers them to reflect, reset and rise toward where they want to be.

My Philosophy

I believe therapy should be as dynamic as the people it serves. There is no one-size-fits-all model for healing. My goal is to help each client uncover their inner resilience, build practical coping tools, and experience a sense of renewal that lasts beyond the therapy room.

Whether you’re a young adult learning to navigate life away from home, a parent adjusting to new roles, or someone seeking a modern approach to emotional wellness — your journey matters here.

A Glimpse Beyond the Office

When I’m not in session, I’m enjoying time with my husband, our three sons, two daughters, granddaughter, and our dog, Dallas. Much of my inspiration for NexGen’s mission comes from them — and from watching how every new generation redefines what healing can look like.

Therapy Approaches

Mindfulness

A reflective practice that helps clients slow down, observe their thoughts and emotions, and stay grounded in the present moment. Mindfulness is often integrated into sessions to build emotional awareness, reduce anxiety, and strengthen self-regulation.

Psychotherapy

An evidence-based approach that creates space for self-discovery and healing. Through open dialogue and guided reflection, clients explore patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating that may be keeping them stuck - and begin building healthier ways forward.

"Talk Therapy"

Relational

A collaborative approach that recognizes healing happens through connection. This method focuses on how your relationships - both past and present - shape your emotional experience, helping you improve communication and develop meaningful, supportive connections.

Cognitive Behavioral

A structured, solution-oriented model that helps identify and change unhelpful thoughts patterns and behaviors. CBT is especially effective for anxiety, depression, and stress management - empowering clients to develop practical coping skills and confidence.

Let's Begin Your Reset
